Sydney is a chronic illness advocate and an ambassador for the Chronic Disease Coalition. In 2016, Sydney received her bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in international relations as well as an associate degree in social and behavioral science.
As a teenager, Sydney was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease. Over the next several years, she was also diagnosed with lupus, Sjogren’s syndrome and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Sydney knows the isolation and sacrifice faced by young adults living with serious health conditions, which is why she wants to bring people together and help other young patients find their voice.
