Ricky obtained his Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in December of 2018. His is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and is currently providing pre-employment transition services to young adults with disabilities. He hopes to continues advocating for individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses in the lower region of South Texas.
Itzel Hernandez is a student at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She is pursuing her Master in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. Itzel is a licensed chemical dependency counselor with five years of experience in the field and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in clinical rehabilitation counseling. She is also the president for the Graduate Rehabilitation Counseling Association where she motivates other members to raise awareness and help eliminate barriers for students with disabilities.
Itzel is working as an expert item reviewer with the IC&RC. Together with other professionals she works on reviewing and maintaining the licensure program and examination for Alcohol and Drug Counselors. Itzel has also been invited to serve on an expert panel of bi-lingual LCDC clinicians for a cross cultural validation study of assessments utilized in the Latino/Hispanic community, with Substance Use Disorders.
