Commonwealth Fund

Our team along with a number of our 2023 Health Policy Scholars published “How Young Voices Can Shape Prescription Drug Policy” on the Commonwealth Fund’s blog. Read more.

Health Care Transitions

We partnered with Health Care Transitions, a peer-reviewed journal, to publish a special collection of the findings from our Roundtable on Young Adults with IBD, a yearlong learning community comprised of monthly discussions between patients and providers. Read more.

 

AIBD Conference

Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (AIBD) accepted two conference abstracts written and presented by our team: "Overcoming Patent Barriers in IBD Therapeutics: A Path to Affordable Access" and "Addressing Issues Important to Young Adults with IBD: The Impact of a Multistakeholder Roundtable On Sexual Health, Reproductive Health, and Family Planning Roundtable.” 

Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania

Our team gave lectures on pharmaceutical direct-to-consumer advertising on social media and the representation of adolescents and young adults in clinical trials as part of Penn’s Bioethics Seminar and Research Ethics and Policy Series.

Capitol Hill Briefing

Our executive director was invited to speak on a panel discussion held by Senator Welch with Senator Klobuchar about the critical need to reform our patent system to ensure timely access to biosimilars and generics.

 

White House Convening

Our executive director Sneha had the opportunity to speak at the White House convening on how women are benefitting from President Biden’s Historic Prescription Drug Law. This event was also attended by our 2024 Health Policy Scholar Peyton Miles!

AIG IBD Summit 2023

We partnered with the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology to co-lead their first patient advocacy day as part of their main conference in Hyderabad, India. Many of our Crohn's and Colitis Young Adults Network Fellows & community members spoke at this event on topics of sexual health, mental health, surgery, and more.

Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation Medical Student Conference

Our team presented at the Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation (KGTF) Medical Student Conference at Warren Alpert Brown School of Medicine, showcasing information from our Roundtable proceedings on chronic medical disabilities and higher education and how it can be applied in K-12. 

 

Journal of Pediatric Nursing

The Generation Patient team is honored to have the opportunity to write an editorial on our work promoting self-advocacy for young adults with chronic and rare conditions in the Journal of Pediatric Nursing.

Harvard Medical School

As part of a course offered by Harvard Medical School to physicians focused on optimizing transition from pediatric to adult care, our organization conducted a session on promoting self-management and self-advocacy for young adult patients. Additionally, we presented at the Youth and Public Health Summit hosted by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Stanford University School of Medicine

Our team was asked to present to a class at Stanford University School of Medicine as part of its program “Childhood Chronic Illness: Impact on Family Development” wherein first-year medical students are matched with a pediatric patient at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital to provide support and companionship through their journey. 

 

Aspen Ideas Festival

Our team was invited to speak on a panel at the 2022 Aspen Ideas Festival highlighting how partnering with patients strengthens science.

American College Health Association

In collaboration with the ACHA, our team created and guide with recommended precautionary measures and best practices for college universities to protect high-risk students as they begin to reopen amidst the global pandemic.

United Ostomy Association of America

Generation Patient (formerly the Health Advocacy Summit) collaborated with the United Ostomy Association of America to create an informational guide on the J-pouch, a surgically created (J-shaped) internal reservoir made from an individual’s own small intestine as an alternate way to store and pass stool.

 

Rural Health Information Hub

Because of our services and impact on rural communities, Generation Patient is featured in Rural Health Models & Innovations, a national collection of successful rural health programs and interventions maintained by the Rural Health Information Hub (RHIhub).

 

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

In 2019, we collaborated with Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to host a documentary screening of Becoming Incurable, a film that explores the transformation of three individuals who became diagnosed with chronic, incurable illnesses.

National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine

Because of our work to increase health literacy among adolescents and young adults with chronic conditions, our organization was published in Developing Health Literacy Skills in Children and Youth Proceedings of a Workshop, produced by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (published in the National Academies Press in 2020).

Scleroderma Foundation

In addition to presenting at the National Scleroderma Conference in 2019, our team hosted a webinar for the Scleroderma Foundation on how to navigate going back to college in the age of COVID-19.
